Hurricane UT to Mesquite NV
7-10-14,
Day 51
We left today knowing we would cross two state borders
Arizona and the missing link in the chain, Nevada. Once we cross the border
into that state every state will have been ridden in leaving from Connecticut.
The morning started out hot but clouds moved in and helped
cool things off. We were able to ride a paved bicycle path for the first part
of the day. These are always nice to ride on.
The crew’s mood has been slowly changing as we get closer to
the completion of the tour. We all have had plenty of seat time and would like
it to end. And of course we miss
everyone and everything about home.
We already know the effects of PTBS (Post Traumatic Bike Syndrome) from the last
tours. We have had 50 straight days of a constantly changing adventure unfolding
in front of us. Along with that is the physical and mental challenges of the
ride. It could be a steep hill making your legs scream or the wind in your face
testing your sanity. No matter what something was going on every second.
Each one of us have had the moments when we would have sold
our bike and all its heavy gear for a buck if someone offered. Now when you
know the show is almost over if just feels different.
Late in the afternoon we entered Arizona then finally
Nevada.
