Day 12
6-1-14
Louise KY to Natural Bridges State Park KY
Today is our rendezvous with Rich and Kathy Kushman for a
nice home cooked meal a few beers and socializing with some dear friends and
good people.
They will have their Airstream trailer at the state park and
we have a cabin reserved at the same park.
It looks like we are once again clear of the threat of rain
and the temperature was perfect for riding. Our plan is to run some off the
larger roads to possibly cut down on the climbing.
We arrived at Natural Bridges State Park around 5:30. On the
way up the hill to the park we reached the 1000 mile mark of the tour.
Our cabin was about a mile from the Kushman Kamp so Rich
picked us up in his truck after we showered.
Before we even got inside the truck he gathered us at the tailgate and
reviled a 5 gallon bucket filled with cold beer buried in ice. Oh did that
first beer taste good after 90 miles of cycling.
Once at the campsite the feeding frenzy commenced. First we
devoured a plate of cheese and crackers and a couple large bowls of chips and
dip. Washing all this down with ice cold
beer.
Next came an enormous fresh made salad followed by baked
beans and sliders. Like a pack of hungry wolfs we ate all we saw. The dinner was followed by an ice cream
desert. Stuffed to the gills we thought the feed was over until two little girls
came over from another campsite and offered us some watermelon. Nobody can turn
down watermelon and the little girls were so sweet we took them up on the
offer.
Weather 85 degrees
91 Miles
3706 Feet of Climbing
Smile Joey!
