Boulder UT to Bryce Canyon UT
7-7-14
Day 48
The day was sunny but much cooler as we made our way towards Bryce Canyon Utah. Both of the day’s major uphill climbs were plagued with a serious head wind holding us back.
With only 17 miles left in the day we were slowed to barley
6mph by the wind. It is painful to even look at the speedo when you’re pushing
hard and going nowhere. There is nothing you can do but grin and bear it.
It seemed no matter which direction our route turned the wind
was always blasting in our faces. The wind rushes through the canyons and almost
seems to intensify. Similar to the way the wind acts around buildings in New
Your City. Go by one mountain outcropping and you hardly have any wind. Turn to
another and you’re almost stopped in your tracks by it.
There has been plenty of hills and mountains on this tour. As of today we have climbed 190,313 vertical
feet! Ouch.
Nevada is not far off in the distance.
