Day 18

Day 18

6-7-14

Murfreesboro TN to Colombia TN

It was another easy day of riding for us with less hills and less mileage. Again remember our daily mileage is determined by where we can sleep that night and inclement weather.

Another band of thunderstorms was south of us so it was good to have had short day. As we were eating our dinner the rain had already started.  It is so much nicer being inside when it is raining and not on a bike.

It does appear the climbing has started softening a bit for us. Today was the third day in a row with reduced climbing numbers. Having already climbed nearly 95,000 feet so far we feel we are due for a break. Not that we are scared of climbing but just let us have a breather after 15 days of punishment.

Although it was warm the sun hid behind clouds most of the days so we were not getting cooked on the roadway. This made for some excellent cycling conditions.

Riding through a neighborhood we came across a Lemonade stand being run by some kids for their high school basketball team. A bunch of cool dudes with some tasty lemonade for sale.

One of the kids father came out and told us he had competed in some Ironman events.  Now that is hard folks.  Hats off to him!

We promised to make those kids famous on our website.  Hey guys ……you’re famous!!! Tell dad the royalty checks are due any day now. You may as well as drop out of school you won’t need those books anymore……your soon to be rich and famous.

We should be on the Natchez Trace Parkway tomorrow a day later than we had planned. We could be a couple days behind schedule now due to route changes.  All of this is beyond our control.

Weather 87 degrees Partly Sunny

62 Easy Miles

3369 Feet of Climbing
